Tianzifang is a creative arts and shopping area developed in renovated traditional shikumen (stone gate) houses and factories in the French Concession. The maze-like network of narrow laneways is packed with independent boutiques, galleries, craft studios, and some of Shanghai's most atmospheric cafés. It represents a successful model of preserving traditional Shanghai architecture while creating a vibrant contemporary space.
