⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · ¥10–25/person
Xiaomian (small noodles) are Chongqing's most beloved everyday dish — thin wheat noodles served in a intensely flavored broth of chili oil, Sichuan peppercorn, sesame paste, pickled vegetables, and scallions. A bowl costs ¥8-15 and Chongqing residents eat it for breakfast, lunch, and late-night meals. Liu Yi Shou is one of the city's most popular xiaomian chains with consistently excellent quality.
Xiaomian stalls open from 6am — the breakfast rush (7-9am) is when the broth is freshest. Order extra chili oil (多辣) if you can handle heat. The dry-mixed version (干拌) lets you taste the noodle flavors more clearly.
